Sane Laden & Friends

Posted on February 21, 2010

Every single day Sane Laden drives his mobylette from his home town Toudobwege to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. At Zaka, a cultural center and gallery, the 29-year old musician sells his latest album Ghetto Vibes. Sane is a man on a mission. With his music – rap and reggae mixed with traditional instruments – he supports kids from Toudobwege. Ten percent of the earnings he gains from selling records and performing goes to the village youth. “They don’t go to school, but they have a rich cultural background,” Sane says. “Burkina’s music is outstanding. I want to protect this heritage and show the children it is even possible to make a living with it.”
